Jasper Morrison is considered with Philippe Stark of the world's top 2 industrial designers, famous for his Flos lamps and Alessi kitchenware. An old friend of Ronald Brown's, he was asked to design the Maverick proprietary bottle before Maverick was even established. Ron gave him a photograph of a 1750's Burgundy bottle, a classic Bordelaise, and the "Vaudoise" commemorating the entry into the Swiss Confederation in 1832 of Ron's native Canton de Vaud.
The result was pure Jasper - minimalist, but continuing to delight and surprise every time you look at it. The bottle has almost no punt so is 30% lighter than normal bottles and so helps reduce carbon emissions, as well as being understated and elegant - so all very much in the Maverick tradition! Produced in France by Saverglass, it is used for Maverick's Single Vineyard Shirazes and for Steiner Shiraz.
