The 2015 harvest was characterised as being early, short, fast, dry and hot!
The good news was some wonderful late summer rain in January which compensated for the long dry summer and "made" the harvest.
We started picking very early in the Barossa Valley on 6th February, and all our Barossa Valley Shiraz was in before the end of February - the earliest ever! Even the Cabernet and Grenache from the Barossa Valley was all in (except for one old bush vine block which was picked in early April) by the 9th March which was truly exceptional.
The Eden Valley was a little later, but not by much! We began harvesting on 5th March which was only a little earlier than normal, but finished with our Eden Valley Grenache picking on 27th March some 6 weeks earlier than in a usual year.
Overall, an exceptional year in terms of quality for the Eden Valley and a very good year for the Barossa Valley, though yields were below normal reflecting the harvest conditions.
